Why I became a Coach:  I became a coach for the learning center because as a student, I  have seen first-hand what kind of impact this kind of program can have on students. I have found that I am happiest when I am helping others, and in my role as an academic coach, I am able to do just that. I am able to help empower my peers and assist them in curating their own tools to be as successful as they can be in their academic pursuits. As coaches, we know that the students we see have lives outside of the classroom, and in this way we are able to help them succeed at a  fundamental level. The strategies learned in coaching sessions will be useful throughout a student’s life. Helping others learn those strategies is a pretty good reason to go to work!
